My eyes are so wet I can barely read the screen...

My best friend phoned me at 9:00 am this morning. First of all, she knows better than to phone so early and expect me up so I knew that something was important. But there was nothing that prepared me for her news. One day after dancing around and celebrating the fact that London got the 2012 Olympics I am sitting and crying for the city I have come to love so much.

By now I hope you have heard or been told some news and are aware that there were at least four seperate bomb attempts that have killed at least 33 people and injured over 300 more. These attacks took place on the underground and doubledecker bus system - a part of London known so well by anyone who has visited it. My heart and prayers go out to all those affected by these terrible blasts. Violence like this is never an ends to anything.

Since arriving home I've come to realize how much I miss London. I'm glad I took the hundreds of pictures and pamphlets I did and can't wait to revisit it. Terrorists may have destroyed parts of the transit system but they cannot harm the heart of that great city. Countless times I read about the trials London went through in WWII and was amazed by the spirit and determination of the people who live there. I would leap at any chance to revisit London - a city filled with so much, art, culture, and history.

My favourite part of London: Trafalgar Square. Standing at Nelson's Column I can see Canada House, The National Gallery, and St. Martin in the Fields. I can see the Admiralty and Big Ben in the distance. The fountains are a place to admire in the winter light or cool off in during the summer heat. Close, I know, is the Portrait Gallery, Leicester Square and Covent Garden. And I know that being so high up Admiral Nelson doesn't miss much that is happening in his city.

O wow, I am absolutely set and now addicted to blogs. I just found one for Rick Mercer and so am guaranteed a fun summer's reading. Pathetic? Yes! But am I excited? Yes!

Well, all my worldwide readers, it is July 5th today. That's right summertime!! In Vancouver that includes me getting up this morning looking outside and putting on a sweatshirt and wondering if it'll be cold enough to put the heat on. By noon it's raining and by 9:00pm it's raining so hard my dog comes in from a short run drenched! It's now 11:00pm and I can hear the rain pounding on the roof.

Vancouver is such a beautiful city. I can't wait till you come visit!!

currently looking for work...

I am almost unpacked. I have one more miscellaneous box and my large piece of luggage. In the midst of all the chaos I've managed to lose David's note to Natasha (sorry guys!). I know it was here as I'm sure I saw it, but at the moment... the elves have taken it :o)

I went and saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith and contrary to Chris and David I really enjoyed it! Granted it's a little over the top but I thought it was quite funny... doesn't hold a candle to Batman Begins though :o) My sister insisted that I watch her new movie, Phantom of the Opera, and so last night I was introduced to Le Phantom. I realize this is one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's most popular musicals but it has three songs that just repeat over and over again....and the Phantom doesn't get Christine?? What kind of story is this?? sheesh! I think tonight we'll watch Mary Poppins, haha!

Instead of blogging I'm supposed to be updating/redoing my resumé (I'll get right on it, John). I need to start applying so that I actually have a job to go to in September....ugh. I like doing the absolutely nothing that I'm managing right now. It might wear off but till then I'll sit on my couch, watch the rain pour down and pop in another movie!

Right now I'm sitting in my mom's classroom - goofing off and playing on the computer while I wait to help her clean the rest of her classroom :o) I get lunch out of it!! Ah, it's nice to be back and totally in the swing of things, hee hee. We might go to see Mr. And Mrs. Smith tonight!
